I think it's probably best that you spoke without "reading" to the children. It's good that you were confident enough to do that!

Here's something I wonder, though - why not have the children do the same theme as the adults, like draw a picture of being afraid, or draw a picture of something that makes you afraid, and then those could go in the prayer basket too. Just an idea...

A small correction: Fr Mychal's body is being carried by two firefighters, a police officer, and two "civilians". It's a really minor point in some ways, but on the other hand it shows a quite varied group of men working together!

'I told the "The Parable of the Good Shepherd" as a children's time in worship on Sunday. I don't usually do children's sermons. It was as much for the adults as the children. This was reported to me this evening by a parent. "Weekly" magazine was laying on the coffee table of their home on Sunday evening. It had a cartoon of Osama bin Laden on it. Miles picked it up and asked what the cartoon was about. His mother explained the story of the 9/11 bombings and the history behind bin Laden. She then asked him, "Do you think this man is still one of Jesus' sheep?" Miles said, "Yes. He went into one of those dark places and got lost and it changed him."'

In it Frank Viola examines key areas that impact us as Christians and explores new ways to handle them. I am enjoying it. (and no 8 syllable words either!)

Father God (and parents) don't watch you and say - you failed you only took two or three steps you didnt' make it across the room - no, He and they are excited for you, pick you up, dust you off, swing you around and encourage you to start again
